Virtual Event Platforms with Uptown Events

We have had a great deal of experience with a number of virtual event platforms and thought it would be useful to list some of the features of the platforms we have been working with.

With all the platform options below, Uptown Events would manage the presenters and content for your event. Uptown Events would arrange rehearsals and tests with any remote presenters in advance. Uptown Events can also edit any pre-recorded footage.

To start off, please see a few useful definitions:

Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP)
This is a proprietary protocol for real-time streaming of video, audio, and data between a server and Flash player. We would use an RTMP to stream content into the platforms that we have been using for our virtual events.

Webcast
This is when the platform takes an RTMP stream from Uptown Events. Uptown Events would then mix different media together, i.e. pre-recorded video, slides, live webcam etc.

Webinar
A webinar means the stream is direct from the platform solution (such as WorkCast or Zoom Webinar for example) and not an RTMP. We wouldn’t be able to use pre-recorded media and live webcam on this solution.

Webinars and Webcasts: WorkCast

WorkCast is a secure and cloud-based solution for webinars and webcasts which allows us to host these events online seamlessly. There are no downloads, plugins or barriers. Delegates just need a device with access to the internet.
There is no facility for delegates to network at the event. This is purely a solution for a virtual event to be viewed.

A few of the main features of this platform are:

Registration for the event within the platform. This can include reminders to be sent to the participants before the event

Detailed reporting pre and post event

Branded platform

Post event survey (additional cost)

Fully integrated to our studio at Uptown Events where we can film the speakers and / or manage the speakers remotely

Ability to produce live or pre-recorded events as well as simulive depending on requirements.

Large virtual events which need to include networking: Hopin

Hopin is a premier platform for events that require the ability for attendees to network, Hopin events have a live video chat and ways to meet people and connect within the platform.

The Hopin platform is secure and we can make the events private and password protected or hidden and invite-only. The platform is branded for your event and style.

A few of the main features of this platform are:

Reception area – this is where you can welcome delegates to the event and also display the schedule. If there are any sponsors they can be showcased here.

Stage and backstage

Sessions – if you wanted to have live breakout sessions this is available within the platform. Attendees can gather around a virtual round-table and collaborate

Networking – the platform lets you network like you would at an in-person event. There is also a connection discovery tool which can pair people up in one-on-one conversations via live video.

Expo area – this is where you can set up virtual booths for an exhibition feel. Pre recorded video or live video is available.

Registrations – we would use Eventbrite for the attendee registrations which seamlessly link into Hopin for seamless client user experience

Fully Virtual and Hybrid Events: ReAttendance

ReAttendance is one of our preferred platform partners for fully virtual or hybrid events that require attendees to network, host exhibitions and conferences. ReAttendance have their own inbuilt live video chat, networking function and fully interactive exhibitions floor. Being able to have multiple live streams and rooms running simultaneously ReAttendance is the most flexible and engaging virtual events platform on the market. You can also use the other platforms such as Vimeo, YouTube, Soundcloud and Zoom integrated within the ReAttendance site should you wish to have it integrated within your schedule.

The ReAttendance platform can provide fully public, invitation only and chargeable access events where you control the access of your attendees for multiple ticket types. Using secure payments with Stripe and PayPal it’s easily accessible. Fully GDPR compliant and secure you can provide your events with confidence. The platform can be branded for your event and style and you can support your Sponsors to ensure their ROI and scope of visibility is supported.
