For the last 20 years, we’ve played an integral part in the ever-evolving events scene, creatively leading from the front, for the crowd to follow. From our beginnings in intimate private gatherings and small Christmas parties, the Uptown team quickly came to learn what makes a vision come alive in all aspects of event creation.

We’ve since evolved to offer a complete service, organising over 300 bespoke corporate events in London, the UK and Europe every year. We have strong connections to endless venues, with a diverse spread of corporate and private clientele. Through it all, we’ve remained inspired by the unexpected. Adam joined Uptown Events as a Director in 2oo6 having originally trained as a chartered accountant at BDO Stoy Hayward. He really enjoys working on a variety of different events such as private parties, corporate parties, conferences and away days. He is married to Anna and has three sons who he hopes one day will be part of the Uptown story!

After almost 20 years in the events industry, Bert came together with Adam and Mark to create Uptown Events with the aim of bringing clients fantastic parties with a great personal service. Bert remains passionate about every event no matter how big or small and strives to maintain the high standards that Uptown Events has become known for. Bert is married with two children and hopes one day, they’ll join him in the company.

After starting his working life at the BBC, Mark started putting on events with Bert Habib when they were 18 years old. These proved hugely successful and lucrative and they continued for many years – working both in Cyprus and London. Eventually, using all their experience, they came together with Adam Phillips to create ‘Uptown Events’ and built the company into what it is today. Mark got married in 2008 and had twin daughters two years later in 2010. When he’s not working, he enjoys the country life living in Hertfordshire, regularly walking his dog Dolly and going for the occasional swim.

Belinda joined Uptown Events in 2007 as a university placement student, gaining experience within both the private and corporate teams. Once Belinda had completed her Event Management degree she enjoyed 6 months exploring the world before returning to London, and Uptown Events. Belinda now heads up the corporate team and has built strong client relationships over her years at Uptown, Belinda enjoys a varied role of developing new relationships, project managing large programmes and creating unique events and installs.

Belinda is married and had a baby boy in 2020, when not at work Belinda loves to explore the countryside, getting out into nature.

Lisa originally started at Uptown Events on a three-week work experience placement in 2009, after completing a Social Psychology degree at the University of Kent. Shortly after, Lisa was offered a job to work full time with Uptown and was thrilled for the opportunity and challenge of working in an industry completely different to anything she had done before. She loves working on creative events – the more unique the better! Lisa now heads up the Private Team as Director of Private Events and has loved watching how the company and the scale of events have evolved over the years.

Lisa is married and had a baby girl on Boxing Day 2020!

Jemma has worked at the Uptown parties, both private and corporate since October 2014, whilst studying Drama, Media and Photography. She was then delighted to join the team full time in January 2016 and quickly developed a passion for corporate events making this her primary focus within Uptown. Her love for the events industry and her interest in growing within the company has seen her take on new clients and she loves to be a part of making the day come together. Jemma is always working on new events, due to the fast turnaround on the corporate side, each one being an exciting new challenge and taking care of every small detail, resulting in making the clients visions a reality.

Shelby joined Uptown Events in April 2016, after graduating from The Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with a BA (Hons) in Theatre, Performance and Events Design. Shelby’s love for event design and production led her to her career in events. Her passion for detail and design has brought a fresh set of eyes to the company and she loves the creative and dynamic industry and the fast pace
turn-around of different events. Shelby loves creating personal relationships with her clients and working on as many events as possible to gain first-hand experience on site.

Lara joined the Uptown Events corporate team in September 2018 after graduating with BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Criminology from Nottingham Trent University. Lara loves to be given diverse challenges whilst working on multiple events at a time. She believes that building strong relationships with both clients and suppliers is the key to success. Amy started her events career with Uptown in 2012, working with both private and corporate clients. Her travels took her abroad, but she returned to Uptown in 2019 and now works solely in corporate events. Her passion is making the unthinkable a reality, she loves nothing more than receiving a bizarre new brief and creating a vision of how to bring it to life. Amy has an obsession with the minute details and thrives on the fast pace of our events.

Hannah joined the Uptown Events corporate team in June 2021 after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Communication & Promotion from Nottingham Trent University. Josh joined the team in February 2022 as Corporate Events Assistant. After graduating from The University of Nottingham with a BSc degree in Business Management, he instantly wanted to bring his business mind to Uptown Events. His passion for DJing, running two record labels and putting on successful live club nights has really fed his passion for the Events industry. Josh is really looking forward to running his own functions and bonding with clients, as well as DJing at some of the Private and Corporate events.

Sheena joined the team after a recommendation through the online platform Hopin during the pandemic. Sheena started her Uptown Events journey as a freelancer, helping on virtual events only. In October 2021, Sheena joined the team full time as a Senior Events Manager for the Corporate team. Her knowledge of virtual and online programmes has massively impacted the Corporate team and helped Uptown to win many big events both in the UK and beyond. Sheena is really looking forward to expanding the virtual team and working on bigger projects globally.

Nicola joined Uptown’s Corporate and Virtual team in February 2022 after 4 years in the Entertainment and Events industry. Nicola graduated from London Studio Centre with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Dance and was lucky enough to perform internationally, as well as obtain training in circus skills. Her event background is in music, virtual, corporate dinners and ceremonies. She enjoys getting creative, keeping busy and bringing event ideas to life.
