Facebook Studio Redesign

The Brief
To design and deliver a modern and flexible set design system, to include furniture, props, lighting and backdrop features to meet the evolving requirements of the studio space, within the timeline and budget set.

The Solution
From initial brief to installation, we had a timeline of three months. During the first site visit it became clear that as the studio is used by the many different organisations under the Facebook umbrella, each with different requirements, the studio needed to be extremely flexible.

The challenge was to create a way for the look of the studio to be interchangeable, whilst keeping the 44m2 space workable. Uptown designed a mood board and visual mock up consisting of a series of interchangeable backdrops, modular and flexible furniture, moveable and double sided panels and props following the desired colour palette. The floor surface needed to be modernised, using a hard wearing and durable material to withstand the heavy studio equipment.

Due to the small space, we were required to create as much storage as possible. Uptown designed modular furniture with hollow bases, a coffee table with a removeable top and columns with hidden shelves to allow extra storage of props and studio equipment.

Additional furniture created alternative set ups for studio use, including high stools and poseur tables, a foldable high table with a removeable Perspex front, and low modular sofas with a coffee table and side table. Finishing touches included plush cushions, removeable wall art, bespoke neon signs and coffee table books to give a relaxed lounge feel.

Overall, the project was delivered on time and to fit the brief to create a modern, adaptable space suitable for a variety of uses.
