The Bluebird, Chelsea
Throughout the planning of this Bar Mitzvah, we were incorporating a running theme of the English clothes designer Jack Wills, starting off with the invitations. The idea was to recreate the designer’s navy draw string bag, personalised with the Bar Mitzvah boy’s name and the date of his party. Inside this bag was also a bespoke navy hoodie, also keeping with the Jack Wills format!
Adding to the Jack Wills theme, each name place on the table had a sewn on letter patch – this is something that is very popular and recognisable within the brand. We also focussed on the theme of TV shows – this is because of the popularity of The Bluebird in the E4 show ‘Made in Chelsea’. The first sign of this was the table centres, which were a blue and white LED lamp and had the table name printed around the shade; each table was named after a popular TV show. In addition we created a backdrop with a large screen right above the DJ booth and it was one of the main focal points in the room. Paired with a black LED dancefloor, the room was transformed into a glamourous set up for a Bar Mitzvah!
As the guests started arriving for the reception we had a sushi bar on offer, as well as canapés and cocktails (for the adults!) flowing. This was loved by guests of all ages! Keeping with the popular branded themes, we recreated ‘Yo Sushi’ napkins to say the Bar Mitzvah boy’s name: ‘Yo Willz’. As well as sushi, we also had a ‘Bubbleology’ station. With list of exciting and unusual flavours, all of the children were able to enjoy their bubble tea experience!
The magician blew everybody away with his fantastic tricks during the reception and at the same time we also opened the popular Mirror Photo Booth. This was open all night for all the guests to enjoy. The idea with this type of photo booth is that it is an ‘open’ full length mirror which allows you more room to either move about or fit more people into your picture; you then have the opportunity to choose from a large variety of props (including the personalised jumpers!) before your photo is taken, which you can then sign!
After dinner, the guests enjoyed the speeches made by family and friends; this included a ‘Made in Chelsea’ themed video made by the Bar Mitzvah boys’ family – this was a really nice touch to the night as they were sitting in the show’s favourite restaurant! Finally it was time for the most exciting part of the night… the dancing! We had two fabulous dancers and an amazing saxophonist who kept everybody on the dance floor all night. On the screen above the dance floor we used some funky and exciting visuals, as well as the music videos that were linked to the songs the DJ was playing!
During the last set of dancing, we gave out some more personalised jumpers and t-shirts which made for some fabulous photos on the dance floor and all the kids enjoyed wearing them! It was clear to see that everybody had an amazing night!
