To create a scientist’s laboratory at The Renaissance St Pancras
Due to the hot weather, we were able to have the reception outside. We created a dry ice mocktail station for the children who drank out of smoking glasses. The placecards were all printed inside test tubes, stored in racks, for guests to find their table.
When guests were called inside for dinner, the ballroom was filled with low fog so the guests could not see their feet. This created an atmosphere similar to a lab and created intrigue as to what was coming next. The Barmitzvah boy made his entrance, and as he stepped onto the dancefloor, pyrotechnics (fireworks) were set off, to create walls of fire around him.
To continue with the theme the children’s table was covered in chocolate syringes and pill boxes containing smarties. There was entertainment in the form of casino tables and later, a magic cabaret.
We utilised green and multi-coloured lasers throughout the night to fill the room with colour and the children could request different messages to be spelt with lasers. Later in the evening, ice cream, popcorn and sherbets were served to refresh all the guests who continued dancing all night!
