To transform the beautifully ornate Crystal Room at the May Fair Hotel into every 13 year old boy’s dream – Call of Duty.
The Crystal Room at luxury London hotel – The May Fair
Guests had already received invitations shaped like dog tags so had an inkling as to what the theme was going to be on the night. As guests arrived to the hotel they were greeted by a lookalike dressed as The Dictator who ushered them into the reception area. After the reception, guests were then ordered downstairs where the rest of the theming was to be revealed.
The tables were decorated with bespoke table centres created specifically to fit with the Call of Duty theme. Grassy mounds with replica Army helmets and bullets were place on tall Perspex blocks, covered with camouflage netting. The table numbers were also created in Perspex to simulate targets and slotted in at the top of each centre. Instead of place cards, the kids all had personalised dog tags as their name places which they were able to take home with them.
Behind the stage, we created a backdrop out of camouflage netting. This covered the entire wall behind the stage and DJ booth and instantly changed the entire look of the room. The multi-level stage and lights were also finished in camouflage to complete the look. Instead of a normal DJ booth, we built one that looked like an ammo crate straight out of one of the scenes from the game. We then stamped it with ‘CALL OF ALEX’ to personalise it for the Barmitzvah boy. To finish off the room we produced a brand new custom-made dance floor in Army greens and browns for the guests to dance on. A special video was produced for the Barmitzvah boy’s entrance which ended with him being walked in by two of our gorgeous female party dancers dressed up in Army outfits.
After the Israeli dancing, guests were able to enjoy the themed photo booth – branded on the outside to match the ‘Call of Alex’ logo and complete with Army based props for everyone to wear for their photos. During dinner and dessert guests were treated to a fabulous soul singer. This was followed by a tailor made SAS stunt show involving the Barmitzvah boy. After this, guests were encouraged to get up and dance the night away. Everyone had a fantastic time and had certainly never seen the May Fair Hotel looking like that before.
