To design, create and co-ordinate a fantastic themed
party for tennis mad Barmitzvah
boy – Max.
The client had booked the Ballroom at the stunning, 5* Landmark Hotel in Marylebone. Our task was transforming the hotel ballroom into a mini Wimbledon.
As guests arrived, they were greeted by a tennis cabaret that set the tone for the evening from the moment they walked in. As food and drinks went round, guests were completely unaware of the tennis wonderland that awaited them moments away in the next room.
Once people started making their way over, and the doors to the Ballroom were opened, everyone soon became aware of the enormous transformation the room had undergone. Now completely unrecognisable to how it had been hours earlier that morning – the entire room had been astroturfed and beautiful flower arrangements – with tennis rackets in them of course (!) – decorated the tennis player themed tables. The tables centred round an incredible, bespoke, tennis court dance floor – complete with tennis net mechitza to be used during the Israeli dancing.
On the custom built, two tiered, green and white stage we had a five piece band; consisting of singers, a saxophonist, a rapper, a drummer and a violinist; welcoming people in. Even the DJ booth was themed with the ‘Wimblemax’ logo on it to match the invitations. The music continued as everyone found their seats and sat down in preparation for the entrance of the Barmitzvah boy – who was waiting outside with a (very convincing!) Roger Federer look-alike.
With starters being served in picnic baskets and the buffet stalls being covered with big umbrellas – anyone would have been forgiven for thinking they were outside! Later on during the evening, speeches (where possible!) were done from a 6.5 ft high Umpire’s chair and tennis visuals, live camera and photos from the party were shown throughout the night on the giant screen behind the DJ.
With the band, the DJ and the dancers all on stage and full of energy, all that was left for guests to do was dance the night away however there was one final surprise in store! The Barmitzvah boy performed an incredible dance routine and blew everyone away. Guests were fantastic and kept the dance floor packed the whole night!
