The Brief
When their annual partners conference came round again our International
Real Estate Consultancy clients were straight on the phone to Uptown Events!
They needed a venue for 200-250 delegates for a whole day, complete with
drinks and dinner in the evening and an outside area as well. The venue
itself needed to generate a buzz amongst the delegates before they’d
even set foot inside the conference
The Conference
Keeping all the client’s criteria in mind Uptown Events managed
to offer a few different options before they decided on Lords Cricket
Ground, renowned as the home of cricket and the game's spiritual headquarters.
With an early arrival time of 8am we knew we had our work cut out for
us. After a 2.30am (!) start for our crew we managed to totally transform
the room. 16m of wall windows covered in black cloth, a 9m stage surround
and lectern complete with microphones, state of the art projection screen
and sound system along with surround sound set up for the break out rooms
as well, meant that our client could not want for anything.
Knowing that each year a special speaker is recruited for the conference
we made sure that DVDs could be integrated into the power point presentation,
and ensured that we had the right PA systems in place ready for whoever
they threw at us! This year’s speaker was Lars Haue-Pedersen, Director
of TSE Consulting.
The entire stage set was designed exclusively for the client and constructed
on site. Throughout the entire process the client had total control and
worked in partnership with Uptown Events to ensure that the end result
was exactly what they wanted and needed, overseeing every detail from
size to colour to shape to positioning.
The package that Uptown Events managed to negotiate for the client included
arrival refreshments, lunch and dinner as well as drinks and breaks throughout
the day. Once the final session came to a close in the evening Uptown
Events had arranged for a champagne and canapés reception in the
historic Long Room, whilst groups of 30 delegates at a time went off for
guided tours of the ground. Once all the groups had been on their tours
the three course dinner was served and the evening swiftly drew to a close.
All in all a very successful day, our client was delighted with our professionalism
and the added bonus of the site tour meant that the conference had a lighter,
more fun aspect to it as well! All the delegates went home with praise
for the day’s event and Uptown Event’s felt their job here
was done!
