The Brief
On Monday 4th December 2006 the number one ranked consultancy globally
moved offices into a 66,000 sq ft, four floor building in the newly regenerated
area of Kings Cross. Uptown Events were charged with the task of turning
the foyer, cafeteria and the lower floor office space of this development
into a fabulous event space for a dinner and drinks reception to impress
the top 50 most powerful and influential partners plus their select guests.
The Venue
As the main point of this party was to showcase the new office building
the venue was always set in stone. The real challenge we faced was turning
the cafeteria into a venue that could reflect not only the company’s
achievements, but also to cater for over 100 people with a sumptuous five
course meal. Not to be daunted Uptown Events took it all in their stride
and after ten site visits and various meetings with the clients we were
able to completely transform the room.
Uptown Events set the theme of the night immediately starting right at
the entrance. A majestic walkway into the building along a red carpet
lined with gas flame light created an instant mood of elegance that was
to continue thorough out the building. Floor to ceiling draping, temporary
carpeting, advanced MAC lighting technology, gas flambeaus and projections
of the company logo around the walls inside the cafeteria all contributed
to the effect.
The Party
Understated elegance was the overall objective of this party and this
is certainly what the guests felt from the minute they arrived. Primarily
this was a company showcase to highlight the recent successes and developments
of the past year, however it soon turned into an evening for mingling
and catching up with each other. Uptown Events had furnished the room
for exactly this purpose and set the atmosphere by providing a fabulous
jazz band whose gentle music kept the conversation flowing. Reception
drinks over, and the guests proceeded to dinner. The dinning room was
bedecked in black and gold to compliment the theme for the evening. The
tables were full of gleaming cutlery as they took their places for a five
course meal! The exquisite meal was served by the finest wait staff and
delighted all the guests with its quality and presentation.
The evening progressed well and all the partners got to see how impressive
the new building was, whilst enjoying time in the company of their guests.
Our usually flamboyant DJ and disco was toned down to suite the climate
of the evening and instead of cheesy Christmas tunes the guests enjoyed
classy dinner music to keep the mood of the night that the jazz band had
initiated. The party was a complete success and our client was overjoyed
at what we had achieved on their behalf. This dinner party went without
a hitch and all the guests commented on how well the office had been transformed.
This is one of our most successful challenges to date and will become
an annual event.
