The Brief
A small division of one London’s executive property companies needed
a small and intimate Christmas party for their sales team. Their previous
parties had been very small and simple but this year they were after something
much grander. We were asked to provide a stylish party for a maximum of
70 guests which needed to be both intimate and fun to celebrate the growth
of their division.
The Venue
After selecting four venues for the client to view there were only two
contenders, however after a final site visit the location was swiftly
settled as The Kingsway Hall in Covent Garden. Located in the hip and
trendy region of Covent Garden, The Kingsway Hall has rooms to suite all
types of parties, large and small and is fully equipped with state of
the art technology. The client chose the Milton Keates Room and after
much discussion with Uptown Events decided on a simple dressing of the
room to compliment the overall style of the party and focus attention
on the premier disco rig installed by Uptown Events. We also commandeered
use of the reception landing and bar for the casino tables. This meant
that the party had two distinctive feels to it, the main dining room creating
a mood of warm intimacy and festive cheer, and the casino reception for
the more wild at heart, wanting the risk and adrenaline of the high stakes
at the tables!
The Party
Upon arrival our client was wowed from the very beginning as the casino
tables with their croupiers and bar staff the fist thing they saw. After
their reception they moved into the dining room for their outstanding
three course meal. The Kingsway Hall offers an excellent choice of food
and the guests were able to pick from several options for each course.
Everyone loved the food, with the vast majority of people stating it was
the best they’ve had for a Christmas party. Once the meal was finished
the casino tables really got underway and were kept solidly busy until
the end of the night. DJ Ritchie Fitch, one of Uptown Events’ best
kept the dance floor packed until the early hours with just the right
blend of music to cater for all ages and tastes. The client was delighted
with what we’d achieved for them and felt that this party was one
to be remembered. For the first real departmental Christmas party our
client told us this would be hard to top, but we’ll give it a try
for next year!
