The Brief
When one of our clients from last Christmas asked us to plan their Christmas
party for them again we were more than happy to oblige with something
bigger and better than before. Our client is a global company with connections
throughout the world so we knew we had our work cut out from the start.
The client brief was to create a stylish Christmas party to blow their
guests and staff out of the water. Whilst not having an overall theme
the client was keen to use the contemporary technology available and expressed
a lot of interest in the Saturday Night fever style dance floor which
Uptown Events had recently got off the production line.
The Venue
We offered some of the best hotels and venues in London to our client,
knowing how keen they were that this party make all others pale in comparison.
The chosen location was The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, synonymous
with style and opulence. The client took over two full rooms and we set
up two distinct areas for the guests to enjoy. The cuisine on offer at
the Royal Gardens is unparalleled and was a considerable factor in booking
the party. Uptown Events also managed to secure an exclusive drinks package
for the client to include cocktails and champagne.
The Party
From the very start there were two distinct areas for the guests, the
main room where dinner was served with the supreme Uptown Events disco
which, when combined with the cutting edge dance floor technology, looked
stunning. The room was dressed simply, to off set the table décor
and lighting put in for the disco and dance floor. We used subtle uplighting
around the entire venue to pick out the features of the room and create
ambience to set the mood for the guests. The second area was in keeping
with the general theme; however the presence of a karaoke soon split the
divas from the introverts and saw several of next years X-Factor competitors
giving their all to the audience! Many of the guests commented on the
overall production of the party which was in keeping with the original
brief as we used only the best high spec equipment. The keywords for this
party were simple style. The human statue reception was style personified;
he was pained entirely white head to toe with just the company’s
logo embellished on his chest to alert guests to the right party! With
the addition of a red carpet entrance all the guests and staff instantly
could grasp this was no ordinary party before they’d even set foot
inside the rooms.
The meal was a great success and generally agreed upon as the best Christmas
dinner to date. The addition of the cocktails and champagne to the unlimited
beer, wine and soft drinks was also a huge success and may possibly have
added to some people’s enjoyment of the evening! The overall effect
was exactly what the client wanted and all the guests were impressed with
the effort that created this memorable experience.
