The Brief
To organise for the fourth time an impressive Christmas Party that would
be even bigger and better than the previous three events. All drinks would
be included, and the venue and entertainment had to be top class.
The Venue
From the choice of venues we presented to the client they chose the Royal
Garden Hotel set in the heart of Kensington just a stone’s throw
from Kensington Palace, many international embassies and homes of well-known
celebrities. The event was held in the opulent Palace Ballroom. This hotel
is renowned for its high-quality food and service.
The Party
The theme was Brazilian. The guests entered and were given Brazilian cocktails
and were greeted by beautiful Brazilian dancers, with the drumming of
the band in the background. The tables and chairs were bedecked with multi-coloured
linens in the national colours of green, yellow and blue in the Palace
Ballroom. With uplighting around the room and on the tables there was
an atmosphere of Carnival Time in Rio. As the first course was served,
our teenage Brazilian footballer – Colin Nell – wowed the
guests with his foot balling skills. He is now the European football trickster
champion who has appeared in many films and television advertisements.
The guests loved this original ‘cabaret’. After the welcome
speeches and the presentation of awards, guests feasted upon a traditional
Christmas dinner and at the end of the meal 20 Brazilian dancers came
onto the dance floor and performed their 30 minute cabaret which included
a great deal of audience participation. After dessert Colin Nell returned
to the floor and tried to find from the audience the top football trickster.
A great deal of fun and excitement ensued, involving all the guests. The
DJ played on till 2am and the dance floor was throbbing. As an additional
gesture to the guests arrangements had been made for those who wished
to stay overnight at very good rates. The next morning an extra surprise
was laid on for our client as we had hired the private restaurant on the
10th floor for those who had stayed and they were able to enjoy a buffet
breakfast overlooking the grounds of Kensington Palace.
